As a freshly graduated journalist, I was looking for Groningen stories that international students would love to read. It occurred to me that life on a house boat is an iconic Dutch image, unconventional in other cultures. So I pitched my idea to the HanzeMag’s editor. He loved it. I took the time to find a student living on a houseboat who was willing to share his experience. The result was a fresh story peppered with humor that international students (and not only) enjoyed reading and sharing on social media.
HanzeMag International is the magazine of Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen. It brings daily news and feature stories on student life in Groningen.
